Working on vacation in Austria - a brilliant idea

My friend Magda is from Austria. To be precise, from beautiful Styria. I love her home country and she has already shown me a lot. We've spent many small and bigger vacations together. We went to Vienna, Salzburg and the mountains together. Over the last few years I fell in love with this wonderful country. When I hear the dialect, I immediately feel at ease.

We're studying dentistry together in Boston. Money is tight, and last week in the campus cafeteria our idea was born: working on vacation in Austria! During semester breaks we both unfortunately have to earn our money, otherwise it just isn't doable. Rents and the cost of living in Boston are immense. We've already worked at a county fair too and were completely wiped out afterwards. So we were looking for a different, easier solution.

Working on Vacation in Austria - Skiing in Winter and Hiking in Summer

We're two skiers, and our idea was born. Whether summer or winter, we can earn our money by working on vacation in Austria. In winter we can try to work in a hotel, as ski instructors, in the mountain huts, or in a bar in the evenings. There are plenty of options. We earn our money and still have fun on our days and hours off. What could be better than working on vacation in Austria and starting the next semester with a full bank account? In summer, staff are always being sought for the mountain huts. Servers are needed all over the country for the off-peak season.

In Vienna there are many ways to earn money. We also love wakeboarding and will ask around at the water ski facility to see if there's a job for us. We really have found each other. We have the same hobbies and the same outlook.

Working on Vacation in Austria: It's Definitely Worth It!

We also have the advantage of having places to stay at various locations in Austria. Her parents own a fairly large house. Her brother lives in Salzburg and relatives in Vienna. Everyone is kind and very hospitable. We can stay here for a few weeks without feeling guilty. It's even possible to work or help out at an uncle's big horse stud farm. The surroundings are wonderful, and we could show our appreciation by pitching in for a few hours. He doesn't want us to, but that is also an option for a place to stay.

Our idea of "working on vacation in Austria" has given us new momentum, and we feel positively inspired by it. Now it's time to apply and see where we end up. We mostly agree, but when it comes to choosing our future work environment we still disagree. She wants to be more in the countryside and I'd like to be more in the city. But I'm sure we'll find the right path!
